Video: PPCA high-level event during the UN Energy Transition Coalition webinar series

The PPCA high-level event 'Accelerating the global transition to a sustainable and inclusive clean energy future' showcased how the PPCA is bringing together national and subnational governments, private sector organizations and civil society in unprecedented partnerships to eliminate unabated coal-fired electricity and accelerate the clean energy transition.

The event featured exciting announcements and remarks from top-level public officials actively working to accelerate the global energy transition, including the Environment Ministers of Canada, the UK, Germany and Peru, Denmark's Climate Ambassador and the Governor of South Chungcheong Province in South Korea.

The PPCA co-chairs, Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Jonathan Wilkinson and the UK’s Minister of State for Business, Energy and Clean Growth, Kwasi Kwarteng announced that seven new members joined the ranks of the Alliance.

The event also demonstrated how leading-edge partnerships between governments and the private organizations serve a pivotal function in the energy transition, through featuring insights from private sector senior executives from EDP and National Grid ESO. Insights from distinguished speakers were followed by an interactive roundtable discussion where event participants were asked to reflect on a series of questions relating to the global clean energy transition.

The event was moderated by Antha Williams, Head of Environment Programs at Bloomberg Philanthropies.
